I’ve been playing Stalker 2 and Fortnite at 3440×1440 resolution, and I’ve noticed some stuttering during gameplay. My CPU usage is usually between 60-90%, while other games seem to run fine. I’m wondering if my Ryzen 7600X is bottlenecking my Radeon 9070 XT in these titles or if something else might be causing this.

To really figure out if your CPU is bottlenecking your GPU, you should check your GPU utilization. Ideally, your GPU should be maxed out near 100% when gaming. If the GPU isn’t fully utilized, that usually means the CPU might be holding it back. Seeing CPU usage at 60-90% isn’t enough to say for sure there’s bottlenecking; your CPU needs to be faster than your GPU so the GPU can run at full power.
Fortnite is known to be better optimized for Nvidia GPUs, and some AMD cards don’t always get great performance in it. So the stuttering you’re seeing could be due to software optimization issues rather than your CPU limiting things. Your Ryzen 7600X is a solid CPU paired with a 9070 XT at 1440p and generally should do well together.
Have you checked your RAM specs and BIOS settings? Enabling XMP or EXPO profiles in your BIOS can improve memory performance a lot, which might smooth out stutters. Make sure your RAM is running at the advertised speed and timings.
Yeah, I’m running 32GB dual channel EXPO 6000MHz CL30 RAM, so memory speed shouldn’t be a bottleneck here.
That’s a good point, my CPU does stay pretty consistently above 80% usage in those games, so maybe it’s close to a bottleneck but not definite.
