I recently upgraded my motherboard from an MSI MPG z390 Carbon AC to an ASRock B650 Pro RS and swapped out my Intel Core i5-8400 for an AMD Ryzen 7 7700x. I decided to reuse my NZXT Kraken X62 AIO cooler instead of buying a new one. I applied Arctic MX6 Thermal paste and ensured the cooler was tightly secured to avoid any contact issues. However, now when I boot up my PC or open programs like Spotify or Firefox, my CPU temperatures are spiking to over 70°C (158°F). The pump seems to be functioning, but I’m at a loss as to why the temperatures are so high. Any insights?

Have you tried running a more demanding workload, like Cinebench R23 or R24, for about 10 minutes? It’ll give you a clearer picture of your temps and clock speeds under stress. Just be careful if you’re hitting close to 100°C while starting up basic apps; that’s really high! You might want to keep an eye on that.
Yeah, if basic programs are pushing you near 100°C, I wouldn’t recommend stressing it too much. You could be looking at a mounting issue or there might be a problem with the pump. Double-check your installation and consider reapplying the thermal paste if needed.
