I’ve been diving into Metaphor because I usually love turn-based RPGs, but I’m really struggling to enjoy it. I just finished the Necromancer dungeon—the egg boss at the end was particularly dull. The combat shows promise, but that dungeon felt super bland. The dialogue and story are also a big letdown; they feel outdated and repetitive, which is pretty annoying. I get that JRPGs often lean on familiar tropes, but I was hoping for something more engaging. So, I’m curious, do the dungeons and boss fights get more interesting as the game progresses? Or should I just accept that the story won’t improve?

The story does pick up as you meet more characters, but if you’re not loving the basic gameplay now, it might not be worth sticking with it. Some people find it gets way better a bit later—maybe give it a few more hours?
Yeah, the dungeons pretty much stick to the same formula, especially if you’ve played SMT or Persona games. If the characters and overarching story aren’t interesting to you, you can definitely feel free to drop it.
I love JRPGs too, but I think Metaphor is a bit overrated. The dungeons don’t get much better, and while I had fun with it, I didn’t find much that really captured my heart after the opening chapters.
Honestly, if you’re finding the Necromancer fight boring, it’s probably safe to say that Metaphor isn’t for you. The dungeons don’t really improve much, and if the characters and plot aren’t grabbing you, it might be time to move on.
I’m right there with you; I feel the same about the story and combat. It just hasn’t hooked me yet, and the dialogue can be a bit much.
I get that! I do enjoy the turn-based combat, so if the fights get engaging after this, I might stick it out. I just want more than hitting ‘weakness’ over and over, haha.
