Hey everyone! With the release of Mario Kart World priced at $80 (about $110 before taxes, $125 total in Canada), I’m really curious about whether you think it’s worth it. Considering there are other AAA titles like Alan Wake 2, Expedition 33, and Elden Ring available for $70 or less, where does this new Mario Kart fit in value-wise? Would you say it holds more value than these other games, or is it just overhyped?

This seems like one of those subjective questions without a clear answer. Everyone’s going to have different opinions about value in gaming. It just might stir the pot than provide clarity!
Honestly, $80 feels steep for a new Mario Kart when MK8 Deluxe is already so packed with content for a lower price. I mean, the new world features sound neat but are they really $10-$20 better than what you get with games like Alan Wake 2 or Elden Ring? I doubt it.
Right? I feel like there’s just not enough new content to justify the price.
I’ve heard mixed reviews in the Mario Kart community about it. Some folks feel like the open world is pretty empty compared to the tightly designed courses we’re used to. I haven’t tried it myself yet, but those criticisms have definitely made me hesitant to buy it right away.
True, but I’ve also seen a lot of positive feedback on the sub. People who loved MK8 might be more critical just because they have high expectations.
You can race three laps in each course, but only not during Grand Prix mode. Let’s hope they patch this!
For me, it’s not worth $80. I enjoy the racing but I’m primarily a single-player gamer, and I’m thinking it probably won’t hold my attention for that long. I felt like spending $70 on Zelda: TOTK was much more justified given the amount of fun I had with it.
So true! I put over 100 hours into TOTK, but I can’t see myself doing that with Mario Kart.
It really boils down to how much you expect to play it in the long run.
Can you really beat a night of gaming at home with friends over a good Mario Kart match? It’s basically a party classic! Not sure if those other games would have the same energy when everyone is over.
Totally! You can start some real debates and rivalries over Mario Kart.
Lol that’s a funny take! But you’re spot on—it’s a complex topic with no one right answer.
