Hey fellow gamers! I’m curious about whether Link will make a return in Mario Kart World. He was such a popular character in Mario Kart 8, almost like a secondary mascot next to Mario himself. However, with all the new footage released for World, I haven’t seen any crossover characters, and some folks seem to think they won’t be coming back.
I’ve got to admit, I’d be really disappointed if Link isn’t playable this time. I usually play as him 99% of the time in 8, and I’d love to see him in the cute new art style of World, especially since I wasn’t too fond of his model in 8. Plus, having him adds some design variety that the Mario series kind of lacks, given that most male characters are all pretty cartoony while the women have more diverse designs.
With a new Zelda game still a few years out and Link not appearing in the recent Hyrule Warriors, I think it would be great for fans to see him in another game. Do you think if enough people show interest, he could possibly be added as DLC later on? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

I think Link will probably be added as DLC if he’s not included in the base game. He was a fan favorite in Mario Kart 8, and with Nintendo looking to promote their upcoming titles, having him in Mario Kart World could be a way to connect those franchises and attract players. It just makes sense as promotional material!
I only bought Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U because Link was available as DLC! He’s such a cool addition to have. I really hope they stick to including him in the new game, whether it’s as a launch character or as DLC later on.
Haha, I thought the same when I first heard about it! I definitely didn’t expect a crossover like that.
