I’m gearing up for a fresh PC build and am considering splurging on a 5080 graphics card. I’ll be pairing it with a Ryzen 7800x3d, 32GB of 6000 MHz RAM, all housed in a Fractal Terra case. Is the upgrade worth it, or should I consider something else? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I’m in a similar boat. My motherboard conked out recently, so I rebuilt with my existing 3070, waiting for the 50xx cards to drop. I just snagged a MSI 5080 through a PSU bundle deal and am excited to test it out. Right now, my setup with a secondary 24″ monitor alongside a 49″ OLED is requiring me to tune things down to avoid crashes when gaming. I’m hoping the 5080 will not only stabilize things but let me crank those settings higher. Once I test it, I can share if it feels like a good investment.
Honestly, consider the 4080 Super instead. It will likely be cheaper, given the scalpers are already listing the 5080 for $1200-$1400. Just something to think about if budget is a factor for you.
If you can snag a 5080 for a fair price, go for it. But if you’re seeing inflated prices, the 4080 Super might be a solid alternative. Remember, every new series gets some flak at launch from skeptics. It happened with the 40 series too, so take the negativity with a grain of salt.
