I’m contemplating upgrading my aging gaming laptop with a 1660ti. I want to invest in something that will remain relevant for at least the next 4-5 years. I’m trying to figure out how significant the performance difference is between the 4060 and the 4070 in terms of future-proofing. Do you think it’s worth the extra cash to go for the 4070, or should I just bite the bullet and get a 4090 instead?

The RTX 4070 offers about 20% better performance than the RTX 4060, especially in gaming. If you’re looking for something that’s going to be more future-proof, the extra performance could definitely be worth it! Check out this video for a comparison: https://youtu.be/5drb9Dbe_ag
If you get a good deal on it, the 4070 is definitely worth considering! I grabbed an Asus G16 with a 4070 for around $1050 on sale, and it’s been performing great for ultra/high settings at 1080p! I wasn’t originally looking for it but the price snagged me. It really depends on how much you’re willing to pay!
Honestly, the 4060 and 4070 are only about 15% apart in performance at best. If you can stretch your budget, the 4090 is significantly better, with around 55% more performance than the 4060 and it comes with 16GB of VRAM. Ideal for modern AAA games at ultra settings, but if you’re fine with adjusting settings and are gaming in FHD on a 15-16 inch laptop, the 4060 could still do the job just fine!
Just a heads up, the 4080 and 4090 laptops are pretty pricey, though. It might not be worth it if you’re budget-conscious.
From where did you get it? I’m on a $1200 budget and looking for something similar!
