I’ve got a bit of history with Destiny since I played it years ago when I got the Witch Queen expansion for free on the Epic Games Store. At the time, I felt limited because I couldn’t buy the latest season, The Final Shape. Now that I have the budget, I’m eager to dive back in, especially since it’s one of my favorite grind-heavy games. Is there still value in starting the game at this point if I’ve missed a lot in terms of meta weapons and storyline?

It’s a tough call. Destiny can be super fun, but if you’re just coming in now, keep in mind that you’ll miss some important storylines since the game vaults its seasonal content. You’ll start fresh with the new saga, but the backstory that’s been vault is a bit tricky to catch up on.
If you’re considering diving in, now’s the perfect timing! You can participate in events like the current one (RotN) for free, and get your Light level up without tons of grinding. The new expansion also means some fundamental changes to how the game operates, which can be pretty advantageous for newcomers.
Now is actually a great time to start Destiny! The next expansion is supposed to be more newbie-friendly as it marks a new saga for the game. Plus, they’re overhauling how weapons and armor work, so you’ll be jumping in right alongside veterans. You can get a feel for the game for free now and be ready to really dive into the new content when it drops on July 15.
That sounds promising! I’ve seen some expansions promise to be friendly for new players, though. Fingers crossed they actually stick to it this time!
Honestly, there’s a lot to do even if you’re just a F2P player. Bungie’s mentioned that the upcoming changes will be pretty friendly for new players, so it could really be a great point to jump in and start grinding again!
Seriously, don’t worry too much about being late to the game. Most players feel lost at times anyway, so you’re not alone. There are plenty of YouTubers with lore catch-up videos that explain the story if you want to catch up. With the systems changing in the next expansion, you’ll have a decent chance to start fresh with everyone else.
That’s good to know! I love free stuff, and getting starter gear before the expansion is a smart move.
