I’ve been playing for almost 1,500 hours and haven’t finished the main story or launched a nuke yet. I got to the point where I had to choose a faction and talk to the leader about breaking into the vault with the gold, but it seemed tough, so I decided to come back when I leveled up more. That was over two years ago, and I’ve kinda forgotten about everything. I’m wondering if it even matters if I finish the main story now, especially since I’m maxed out on affinity with both factions. Am I missing out on anything important? Can I complete the quest-line solo? Does it involve launching a nuke, which I’ve never done? Also, if I’ve made the Brotherhood of Steel NPCs hostile, will they always be mad at me?

Good news! Completing the vault raid does get you gold bullion, and it might have some less buggy experiences if you side with the Settlers. Just so you know, you won’t have to launch a nuke for the vault raid, so no worries there! And as for the hostile NPCs, you can kill BoS ones without facing any long-term consequences, if that helps.
Thanks!
