I’m contemplating buying an RTX 4090 for $2000 as a temporary solution until I can eventually snag a 5090 and then sell the 4090. My computer build is in progress and I’ve received some parts, but I’m really eager to get back online since I haven’t had a desktop PC in ages. Last time I built a gaming rig, finding components wasn’t such a hassle, and I’m starting to feel the pressure to get something working again.

Buying that 4090 could actually lead to it losing value, so by the time you try to sell it, you might only get between $1000 to $1500. Are you okay with potentially taking a loss? Just something to think about.
If it’s just a temporary fix you’re after, it might be better to consider something that’s less expensive, like a 4070 or a 7800XT. Those will still get you gaming for a bit, and you could resell it later if you need something more powerful. Plus, I’m not sure how much you’d get back for the 4090 after all that time, maybe not the full $2000 when you go to sell it later.
Honestly, spending $2000 on any GPU right now seems a bit overboard. You might want to consider picking up a much cheaper option like a 750 Ti or just sticking with the integrated graphics until better options drop, like the 9070 in a month!
