I’m trying to overclock the Ryzen 5 4600H processor in my laptop, but the BIOS doesn’t seem to offer any settings for this. I’m not worried about things getting hotter, I just want to know if it’s possible to overclock an APU in a laptop setup. Any advice?

The Ryzen 5 4600H has a locked multiplier which makes traditional overclocking a no-go. However, you might be able to tweak the configurable TDP (cTDP) to push it up to 45W for a bit of a boost in performance, though that comes with increased heat output and power consumption. Unfortunately, that’s about all you can do with this model.
Laptop processors like yours are generally locked out of overclocking in BIOS, which is why there’s no option available. The design focuses on balancing power and cooling needs rather than squeezing extra performance out at the risk of overheating.
Overclocking a laptop processor, especially something like the Ryzen 5 4600H, is typically not feasible because laptops are designed with very limited cooling capabilities. Most of them have locked BIOS to prevent overclocking, so they don’t provide any options for it. This is mainly to protect the hardware from damage due to heat.
If you’re really set on trying something, there’s a program called Universal x86 Tuning Utility. Proceed with caution on a laptop, though, as it doesn’t have the same power and cooling as a desktop. Stick with preset profiles to lower the risk of damaging your laptop.
