Hey folks, I hope this isn’t too silly of a question, but I’ve had my PS5 for a couple of years now, and it’s been great until recently. I’m facing an overheating problem for the second time, and I suspect it’s related to the liquid metal in my CFI-1216A model. I’ve kept my console standing up vertically, which might have caused a dry spot in the liquid metal. Since I don’t have the right tools to open it up and fix it, I’m wondering if setting my PS5 upside down temporarily could help the liquid metal redistribute. What do you think?

Why not just lay it flat? It might be a cleaner solution! If you’re concerned about gravity affecting the liquid metal, maybe thinking of it horizontally could help too.
Keeping it horizontal sounds best. The liquid should settle back into place. That might save you some trouble in the long run!
Have you tried vacuuming the power supply dust catcher holes? That might help with overheating issues too!
I opened everything up and started taking out all the screws to clean it, but I’m pretty sure the liquid metal is the main problem.
I’ve heard from others that running it upside down for a few hours might help redistribute the liquid metal. Just remember that this isn’t a permanent fix – you should consider reapplying the liquid metal for a solid solution.
Okay, I’ll give that a shot! But if I end up needing to open it up, should I just spread out the existing liquid metal or should I replace it completely?

I meant upside down as a temporary fix! If the dry spot is from gravity, flipping it could help pull the liquid metal down before I keep it horizontal.
