I started playing Rocket League about a year ago and found myself caught up in the ranked ladder, stressing over win percentages and mechanics. But the reason I started playing was to enjoy the game like the big YouTube creators (like zen and dark). I’m just not about that sweat life anymore, especially since I’ve recently been enjoying freestyling in casual mode to go for clips, kind of like how I did with trickshotting in COD as a kid. However, sometimes my 2v2 teammates get frustrated with me. Is there anything wrong with trying to freestyle in a casual setting? I still prioritize playing to win—I save goals and don’t throw games—but the ranked grind isn’t for me. Anyone else feel this way? Also, where can I find a community for freestyling, like FS 1v1s or free play sessions?

It’s fine to freestyle, but remember your teammates are also there to play the game seriously. Casual is a place to experiment, but if you’re constantly going for clips and ignoring plays, it can be frustrating for others who want to win. Maybe consider sticking to 1v1s when you want to freestyle; that way, you won’t affect anyone else’s game too much.
Don’t worry about it! It’s all about having fun. As long as you’re not being a total troll, throwing games, just enjoy yourself. There are communities out there, like Discord servers with freestyle lobbies, where you can really show off and have a blast.
You gotta do you! If freestyling is what brings you joy, go for it. Just remember to keep it lighthearted; it’s just a game in the end. The other players will appreciate a player who enjoys the game!
For sure, you can freestyle! Just try not to disrupt your teammates too much. It’s casual, but it’s good to keep the flow going. And as for clips, avoid dropping your MMR just to chase them; nobody likes smurfs. Just play at your level and enjoy the game!
