I’ve had my PS5 for about two weeks now, and I’m noticing that it gets quite hot within just ten minutes of playing. I’m used to my PS4, where this wasn’t an issue, so I’m wondering if this is normal for the PS5 or if I might have a defective unit. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Have you checked if your PS5 has enough airflow around it? Sometimes just moving it a bit can help with cooling.
I actually bought a cooling fan that sits underneath my PS5, and it really helps keep the heat down. My PS4 used to get super hot and I didn’t want a repeat with the PS5. It’s been working well for over two years now! You can find these fans pretty cheaply online.
If you’re not getting any overheating alerts and the console stays on, I wouldn’t worry too much. The PS5 can feel warm, especially during intense gameplay, and that can be totally normal. Just touch it lightly; if it’s burning you, then it’s too hot!
Just a heads up, the PS5 operates best between 50 to 70 degrees Celsius. If you’re not seeing any warnings or shutdowns, you’re likely good. It’s designed to handle some heat, but if it feels dangerously hot, that might be a different story.
How do you know it’s overheating? If it’s just hot to the touch but the fan isn’t going crazy or there are no warnings on screen, then you might be fine. Just hot doesn’t mean it’s unsafe!
