I recently upgraded to an ASRock B650 PG Lightning motherboard paired with an AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D CPU. My current BIOS version is 3.10, but I noticed there’s a newer stable version 3.20 available on the motherboard’s website. However, I couldn’t find a CPU support list to confirm if my processor is compatible with this BIOS update. Is it generally safe to update to the latest BIOS even if I can’t find explicit compatibility info?

With AMD boards, BIOS updates often include updates to the AGESA code, which can improve CPU compatibility and performance. Since you’re on a 7000 series CPU, updating to the latest BIOS might help, and many users do it without issues. However, remember that BIOS flashing can fail even if it’s rare, so make sure to follow the instructions carefully and don’t power off during the process.
Usually if your system is running fine, you don’t need to rush into updating the BIOS. BIOS updates mainly fix bugs or add support for new hardware, so if your current setup is stable, you might want to just leave it as is.
Yeah, I tried checking the update notes but didn’t see anything mentioning compatibility with my CPU specifically. I kinda thought BIOS updates were always safe and improved things.
Good point. Do you think using the BIOS flashback button method lowers the risk of failure?
