I’m considering whether a standing desk would be a good fit for my gaming setup, especially since I can’t sit still for long gaming sessions. I get really fidgety—one moment I’m focused, the next I’m jumping around between gaming, coding, or chatting on Discord. I’ve seen mixed opinions on standing desks for gaming. Some people say they really help with posture and overall mood, while others end up sitting down most of the time anyway. I don’t want to spend a bunch of money if I end up just using it as a fancy shelf. Has anyone here gamed on a standing desk? I mainly play FPS games and tend to move around a lot at my desk; are these desks stable enough for that? If you’ve got a setup that works well for you, I’d love to hear about it!

For me, the standing desk is great for switching between sitting and standing. It really helps me avoid fatigue—my thighs get sensitive if I’m sitting for more than a few hours. I use a Secretlab Magnus Pro XL, and it’s been awesome for both work and gaming! Just keep in mind it doesn’t have a sit/stand timer, which would be useful.
I’ve actually found that I stand for about 30-40% of my gaming sessions. It really helped with my back pain, and I feel more focused when I’m standing up. I didn’t expect such a change, but it makes long gaming sessions way easier on the body. I went with the Smartdesk 5, which is more for work, but I’ve started using it for gaming as well. For FPS games, I usually sit, but I love standing while playing RPGs. I also use an anti-fatigue mat and even a wobble board to keep things interesting! Not everyone will love it, but if you can’t sit still, it’s definitely worth a shot.
I think you should definitely consider a standing desk. For gaming, I often prefer sitting, but when I work, I’m mostly standing. It’s great to be able to adjust the height. I’ve tried playing competitive games standing up, but just couldn’t get completely locked in. Everyone has their own preference, so if you want one, go for a motorized model that adjusts easily!
Honestly, I think it comes down to whether you enjoy standing. I use my standing desk primarily for work, but I’ve gamed on it too, and it’s worked out fine. You don’t have to stand all the time, just switching positions can help prevent discomfort from sitting too long. Plus, a desk that allows you to adjust height is key!
For some reason, the year really doesn’t affect my decision! But I’ve been playing Valorant standing up, and it’s actually made me focus better. Standing desks are definitely worth it if you enjoy that kind of setup!
Totally agree! It’s all about flexibility; I love being able to switch between sitting and standing while gaming.
