I’m thinking about putting SteamOS on my main desktop PC. Is it a wise choice or should I consider other options?

Definitely recommend Bazzite over SteamOS for desktop use. It’s designed with desktop functionality in mind. Plus, you could always boot into Windows and run Steam in Big Picture mode if you really want that Steam experience.
Generally speaking, installing SteamOS on a regular desktop isn’t the best move. It’s primarily designed for the Steam Deck and similar handhelds. If your hardware leans toward AMD, it might work okay, but if you have an Nvidia GPU, it’s not going to cut it. You might want to check out something like Bazzite instead; it’s more suitable for desktop setups.
My PC is all AMD, so maybe SteamOS could work for me then.
According to the SteamOS page, it’s not meant to be a full desktop operating system replacement. For regular hardware, it’s better to stick with a standard Linux distro or one that mimics SteamOS. Trust me, you’ll have a smoother experience that way.
Yeah, I switched to Bazzite and it’s fantastic!
