I’ve been playing mostly Battlegrounds (sitting at 6400 rating) since I find it a much more enjoyable experience. However, I like to occasionally play Standard too, mainly using Protoss Mage and Priest. I’ve had some fun games, but I keep running into the same types of opponents all the time:
– Dragon Priest with all kinds of extra turn tricks.
– Death Knight with leech mechanics or the Zerg Queen.
– Druid dropping 8/8 plants by turn 4.
– Warrior utilizing deathrattle nonsense.
– Hunters trying to pull off OTK with their Plush card.
It feels like OTK strategies have been cranked way up this expansion (and the last one). Sometimes, you can work hard to bring your opponent’s health down and build a good board, only to suddenly lose out of nowhere. Is this really what Hearthstone has become?

If you’re looking to change things up, I’ve got a deck that’s been working for me in Legends. It’s a Paladin deck called Sea Shanty. Here’s the list:
### Sea Shanty
# Class: Paladin
# Format: Standard
# … (deck details)
Give it a shot! It’s working wonders for me right now.
Honestly, it sounds like you’re experiencing what a lot of players feel right now. Everyone’s rushing to find their win conditions first, making the game feel a little stale. It’s more about who can draw their best cards first now.
Menagerie Priest helped me hit Legend this month. It counters a lot of combo decks pretty well. I’ve had great results against everything but Demon Hunter, which is rough, but overall, this strategy might help you out too!
Consider using aggro decks instead. They might be more effective against those Dragon Priests since they can be tough to handle. It’ll also help you win against Druid and Leech DK, plus OTK Hunter!
You actually can’t get stuck at Gold 5 unless you stop playing there. Your matchmaking is always based on your MMR, so if you keep losing, your opponents will get easier. Plus, once you hit Diamond 5, I hear you can make it to Legend by just losing 15 times before going for it! LOL
That’s true! If you keep losing, the system will throw you in with weaker players, so it’s a strategic way to climb if you’re trying to get to Legend fast!
Yeah, definitely try this out! With Rogue not being a common pick at lower ranks, this drunken Paladin deck should smash through most opponents.
