So in my game, Gale died and then an energy specter of him appeared, handing me this super detailed, complicated set of instructions involving a pouch and all sorts of stuff to bring him back to life. Is he genuinely serious about all these steps to revive him, or is there an easier way?

Just a fun tidbit: the flute notes he mentions in the ritual actually spell out D-E-A-D. It’s a clever little puzzle that shows how much thought went into his resurrection scheme. Not too bad once you get the hang of it.
Yep, Gale is totally serious about his resurrection ritual. He actually planned it out ahead, so the instructions might sound over-the-top but they’re legit if you want to do it the ‘right’ way. That said, you can always use a normal Revivify scroll or a Withers resurrection, and that works fine too — it’s just not as dramatic or fun!
Honestly, you can just do the standard resurrection like with any other character and it’s fine. Gale is definitely dramatic about his whole death and revival thing, but it doesn’t really affect the gameplay if you skip the fancy ritual.
True! But I think following his steps also gives you access to a true resurrection scroll, which can be clutch in some tough spots.
It’s definitely better not to let him stay dead too long, otherwise things get complicated. Also, fair point that Gale could have made this whole ritual way simpler, but then again, that’s kind of his style. Adds some flavor to Baldur’s Gate, you know?
That makes sense. I guess he’s just a bit theatrical about it.
