Is Expedition 33 the New King of JRPGs?

I’ve been hearing a lot of buzz about Expedition 33 and wondering if it might be the new champion in the world of mass JRPGs, especially since many feel Final Fantasy has been struggling lately. Personally, I think Expedition 33 is quite enjoyable, but the overwhelmingly positive reception seems a bit over the top. What do you all think? Is this game really that great or is it just hype?

Expedition 33 does look awesome! Some people are saying it feels like a mashup of FFX and FFXVI, and I totally see that. The combat is fun, the music is fantastic, and the characters are solid too. Anyone else feel the same?

Yeah! It gives me vibes of Persona and Lost Odyssey with a sprinkle of Dark Souls mechanics. The soundtrack is straight fire!

Honestly, I don’t get where all the talk about a ‘bad streak’ for Final Fantasy is coming from. Rebirth has sold well and received tons of positive reviews. It seems like it’s doing well! As for Expedition 33, I think it’s a brilliant game—definitely a masterpiece in its own right!

What bad streak are you referring to? Rebirth and XVI have both received great reviews and sales, plus XIV is still thriving. I’m excited for Expedition 33 though—definitely going to pick it up once I have the cash!
