I’m new to the Steam Deck, having primarily used consoles in the past. It’s a fantastic bridge for me to explore PC gaming, and I’m eager to dive into older titles that aren’t available on Steam, like GameCube and PS2 games. My main concern is the safety of downloading Emudeck and whether ROMs are also safe to acquire. I really don’t want to risk damaging my device. Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated!

In my opinion, Emudeck is the best way to handle emulation on the Steam Deck. However, keep in mind that ROMs and BIOS files are copyrighted, so sharing or downloading them can lead to piracy issues. Many sites that host them might look safe but could trick you into clicking on ads or worse, downloading malicious files. Just be careful and do your research! There are safer sources out there, just be cautious about what you download.
I totally get that! It’s a bit scary knowing you might harm your system, especially when money is tight during college. Maybe it’s better to hold off for now until you feel more confident. Appreciate the tips!
