Hey everyone! I’m diving back into **Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest** after more than 20 years. A listener from my podcast suggested I give it another go, which seems like a good excuse to revisit this classic. I remember DKC1 being a breeze, but DKC2 felt like it was actively trying to take me down with some super tough levels, especially near the end. For those who’ve played it more recently, does DKC2 really hold up? Is it as challenging as I remember, or was my skill just lacking back then? I’m also curious about how the game holds up against modern platformers in terms of graphics, music, and overall gameplay. What do you think? Does it deserve all the praise, or has it been overhyped?

I’ve been playing the DKC series for years and I can confirm, it’s still an incredible game. The varied level design and tight controls make it a joy to play even today. Definitely one of the best platformers out there!
Honestly, it’s one of my all-time favorites! Perfect controls, amazing worlds with diverse themes, and eye-popping graphics. The challenge is fair, and it holds up brilliantly compared to modern games. It’s challenging but not overly punishing. Definitely worth replaying, especially for the music and game design!
That’s cool! What other games would you put in your top 5?
I’ve played it recently and it’s a fantastic experience. Getting that 102% completion back in the day felt like such an achievement! Just a heads up, though, it’s not as easy as some might think, especially those secret levels!
Why is it 102% anyway? That always confused me.
Played it two years ago after a long break. It’s actually kind of easy to beat, but getting that 102% is where the real challenge lies, especially with levels like Animal Antics!
Oh, so the main storyline isn’t too hard?
The platforming in DKC2 is top-notch, and the music is just as elite as ever. It’s definitely tough, but the ability to use save states and instant replays makes things a bit easier these days. Back on the original hardware, you really had to grind for extra lives on easier levels!
Exactly! Farming lives was the way to go back then. I remember dying so much, haha.
Glad to hear it still holds up! Can’t wait to jump in!
