I’m curious about how privacy-friendly desktop mode on SteamOS is compared to other standard distributions like Mint. Are there any significant privacy concerns I should consider, such as potential data collection or telemetry?

Essentially, it’s quite similar to other Linux distributions regarding privacy. One important thing to remember is that the OS is immutable, meaning any modifications or software you install can disappear after updates, so keep that in mind!
From what I know, desktop mode on SteamOS is pretty much like any other distro. It’s based on KDE Plasma, so most features are opt-in. You have control over your privacy settings, which is a plus!
There’s no extra data collection from Valve beyond what’s involved with Steam, and that’s entirely opt-in too. So if you choose not to share data, you should be good.
