I’ve been really struggling with my PS4 lately. Initially, I had issues connecting to the internet, and since I live in a rural area, the connection is already hit or miss. I upgraded my internet service from my phone provider, which I needed to do anyway. But right after setting up the new WiFi, I could only turn on the PS4 and nothing else. It turned out I also needed a new controller, which GameStop priced at $70 both for new and used. I bought one online instead. Now that I have everything back in order, I’m experiencing terrible lag, getting kicked from parties every half hour, and losing connection mid-game. My internet has never been great, but it’s never been this bad. I’m curious if other PS4 users have been facing similar issues, and if it might be time for me to upgrade to a PS5?

My PS4 has also been lagging lately, but my internet is super fast—like over 300mb/s. It’s strange that only PS4 has been acting up lately, while everything else works just fine. Maybe it’s just a glitch with the console?
Sounds like the rural internet might be the real culprit here. Honestly, many people I’ve spoken to have had terrible experiences with phone carrier internet in those areas. It might be worth looking into what other internet options are available to you, even though it sounds like you’ve already upgraded? Lots of friends had similar struggles visiting family in suburbs with limited options, and the lag can get pretty awful during peak gaming hours.
Yeah, I’ve heard that before! If there’s any chance you can switch to satellite or fiber, it could make a big difference.
