I’ve been noticing something strange with Akali’s Q range depending on which side of the map I’m on. When I’m on the bottom side, it feels like the Q triggers the passive without needing to reposition. But when I’m on the top side, the same doesn’t happen, and the range difference is pretty noticeable. The visuals can sometimes make it look like the daggers should hit, but they often don’t. Technically, the daggers on the bottom shouldn’t hit at the tip since they’re already on the ground—but it seems like the real issue is with the hitbox on the bottom side instead of the top side. Do you think Riot will ever fix this?

The reason for this inconsistency with Akali’s Q seems to be related to its collision shifting direction. It looks like they intended the hitbox to face the cast direction, but it might have gotten messed up during development. It also turns out the collision behaves more like Annie’s W rather than with Q missiles actually having the collision role—it’s mainly there just for interactions like Windwall.
Yeah, I feel like all these odd behaviors make a huge difference in how players experience her. I’d love if they actually sorted this out.
I’m confused about what ‘bottom side’ and ‘top side’ means in this context. Is it about the base locations, or something else?
Yeah, there are tons of small details like this in League that probably won’t get fixed anytime soon. I’ve actually found a neat trick where if you cast Q while in E2 and then cancel E2 with your ult, you can double cast Q while dashing! It’s a bit tricky, but it does some serious burst damage if timed right.
That sounds complicated! I can barely get my Qs off as it is. Got any tips for inputting that? I’d love to see you in action!
Honestly, it’s funny that we talk about these issues after so many years. I sometimes think they might never fix these things.
Could this be why I always lose matchups I shouldn’t, especially on red side? It’s frustrating when something like this messes with gameplay.
Very interesting! I wondered about that. So the Q doesn’t even really hit in a traditional way? That’s wild.
