I’m considering buying the game, but I’ve heard mixed reviews about the difficulty. The jump from adept to expert seems pretty drastic—adept feels too easy, while expert seems way too hard for me. I’m also on console, so mods aren’t an option. I’m curious to know if I can start on adept and switch to expert later without it being a total letdown. Does adept really feel like a walk in the park, or does it pick up as you progress? What’s been everyone’s experience?

I wouldn’t worry too much about adept being too easy. It can definitely still present a challenge, especially if you’re new to the game. Even if you have prior gaming experience, adept won’t let you one-shot everything. Just focus on getting the right spells and items; that knowledge can make expert more manageable later.
Many players find adept to be a lot better than expected. It starts off a bit easy, but once you hit around level 10, the challenge ramps up nicely. Sure, the first few levels might not be too tough, but it definitely gets interesting after that! Just be prepared for some challenges along the way, like those timber wolves—yikes!
Honestly, adept isn’t as trivial as some people portray it. You won’t just dominate every enemy. I’m level 3 and still find myself needing to land multiple hits to take down bandits. It’s a fair challenge, and I’ve had some fun with it! Stick with adept for now, and if you feel up to it, you can always try expert after getting more familiar with the game.
