Hey everyone! I’m looking to build a desktop PC to pair with my new AW3423DWF monitor and I’ve got gaming as my main focus. I found a prebuilt rig priced around 2500€ in Spain, and here’s the spec rundown: Zalman P30 case with 3x 120mm fans, 850W Coolermaster GX II Modular power supply, 2 hard drive compartments, MSI B650M GAMING PLUS WIFI motherboard, AMD Ryzen 7 9700X (8 cores at 3.8GHz, boosting up to 5.5GHz), Deepcool LE520 ARGB water cooling with 240mm radiator, Geforce RTX 5080 with 16GB, 32GB DDR5 6000MHz RAM (expandable to 96GB), and a 2TB M.2 SSD. I’m wondering if this CPU and GPU combo is solid. Would I notice a big performance boost by spending extra on a 7800X3D or a 9800X3D? Also, is 32GB of RAM sufficient for gaming, or would I benefit from 64GB? Any concerns with this setup? Thanks!

Honestly, the 16GB RTX 5080 isn’t that much faster than the 16GB 5070 Ti which is cheaper. You could use the savings for a 9800X3D and a B850E motherboard, which would give you better value overall.
For just gaming, you shouldn’t run into RAM issues with 32GB. You usually only notice it with heavy workloads or multitasking. If you don’t do much besides gaming, stick with 32GB!
Great! I’m leaning towards 32GB then, thanks for the heads-up!
If you’re considering the 7800X3D, it’s just about 150€ more. I upgraded from a 5900X to a 7800X3D while gaming at 3440×1440, but I didn’t notice a huge performance leap; mostly just improved 1% lows. CPU power isn’t a major factor at that resolution for most games. My setup is a 4080S with a 12600K, and our FPS numbers are pretty close unless the game is specifically optimized for 3D vcache.
That’s interesting! What’s the B850E motherboard advantage?
