Hey everyone! I recently tried a Game Trial on PlayStation Plus Premium for Alan Wake II, which offers a 2-hour and 30-minute session. I made a critical error by putting my PS5 into standby mode while the game was running. When I resumed, I discovered that my trial time had been significantly reduced; I only managed to play for about 43 minutes instead of the full trial. It turns out that if you leave the game running in standby mode, the timer can freak out and a lot of time can get deducted unexpectedly. I reached out to PlayStation Support for clarification, but they only confirmed the time logged on their servers. I lost out, so I want to make sure others avoid my mistake—make sure you properly close the game before putting your console in standby mode!

Honestly, I think everyone knows this is how rest mode works, but it catches some people off guard. Just be sure you take note next time! Sorry you lost trial time, sounds frustrating.
Exactly, I fell asleep with mine on once too—crashed right through my trial time!
Yeah, closing the game is definitely the way to go. I always just hold the PS button to get back to the home screen, highlight the game, and hit the options button to close it completely. It avoids any weird issues after standby.
Preach! I do this religiously too. Can’t stand the idea of my console cooling down with a game still active.
Exactly! Plus, it helps keep everything running smoothly without glitches when you restart.
You actually don’t need to fully shut down your PS5; just make sure to close the game or at least exit to the main menu before putting it in rest mode. That way, your trial timer shouldn’t go whacky.
That’s what I thought! I learned my lesson the hard way too.
Same here, I’m pretty sure I let my trial run out before realizing I was still logged in. Never again!
