I’ve been playing Final Fantasy Tactics on PS1, and I’m currently in Chapter 2, trying to gather Job Points. I’ve heard a lot about how tough Wiegraf is, particularly that he’s one of the most challenging bosses early on. Some fans even say he’s a major turning point because of how cheap the fight can feel. Is it true that the game can be unfairly hard at times?

I almost got stuck for not saving an earlier file. It took many attempts, and I was lucky to pull through, but it was so close to giving up and restarting!
The early and last battles of Chapter 3 can be really hard, but a lot depends on how you build your characters. When you reach Chapter 2, you’ll get a story recruit—don’t decline or kick them out, even if you don’t plan to use them! And remember to save often in different slots—it can save you a lot of frustration later!
I managed to beat it as a kid, so it’s definitely doable! Just remember to keep a few save slots handy; you can soft-lock yourself if you jump into certain fights too unprepared.
If you optimize your characters with ninja abilities and monks using bare hands, Wiegraf can be a walk in the park. His difficulty mainly comes from wanting to steal from him. Just be cautious—he’s definitely a nerve-wracking boss!
Your first playthrough will definitely be a learning curve, but each subsequent run gets easier. Just make sure you don’t overwrite your only save file. If the game prompts you to save, create a new file! That way, you have the option to go back if you hit an unbeatable battle because you’re under-leveled or using the wrong team setup. Follow this advice, and you should be fine!
Yeah, I’ve heard he’s super cheap! I’m so curious how to strategize against him.
