Hey everyone! I’m in a bit of a pickle. One of my disks is failing, and I want to transfer all my game files to a new one. Does anyone know if Steam or other platforms will lose track of where my games are stored? Or will I need to uninstall and reinstall everything on the new drive? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

To help with your original question, you can also right-click a game in your Steam library and select ‘Properties…’. From there, go to ‘Installed Files’ and click on ‘Move Install Folder’ to shift it to another disk.
For Steam, you can easily move your games. Just go to Settings > Downloads, and then select the Storage option. From there, you’ll be able to mark the games you want to move, and Steam will handle the rest for you!
Just a heads up, if your disk is dying, it’s important to be cautious with what you move. Only transfer files that you can’t get back, like saved games that aren’t in the cloud, personal photos, or anything super important. And seriously, back up your data if you haven’t already!
Thanks for the advice! I definitely need to back everything up.
