Hey folks!
I’m getting a new PC soon and want to transfer my existing Windows 10 Pro digital license from my old machine (upgraded from a Windows 7 copy). The old PC will be deactivated.
I’ve heard linking the license to a Microsoft account is needed since there’s no physical product key. However, I prefer not to link my Windows to my Microsoft account. I use a local account on my current PC and want to keep it that way.
Someone suggested linking the license with my Microsoft account on the old PC, activating the new PC with that account, then switching back to a local account after activation. They said the license stays active even if the Microsoft account isn’t used afterward.
Does this method actually work? Is there another solution if it doesn’t? Any advice is appreciated!
Thanks!

I can’t help with the transfer, but just a heads-up: you can buy a Windows key for really cheap nowadays, like around 2 euros. It might be an option if you run into any trouble moving your license over.
Reply to this: Yeah, the last time I bought Windows was with Windows 7 many years back, and that was a lot more expensive than 2 euros! Thanks for the tip!
Just log in to your new PC with your Microsoft account. Your Windows should activate automatically if it’s a digital license. Once it’s activated, feel free to switch over to a local account, and your Windows will stay activated. Also, about using ChatGPT, it’s okay as long as you double-check the info it gives you.
