Hey everyone! I just built my first gaming PC in years and I’m super pumped about it! I’ve set up Moonlight and Sunshine to stream to my Steam Deck, and it works great, but there’s a hiccup—when my monitor is off, I don’t get any video. I’ve done some digging and learned that you typically need a display connected for the GPU to render to. Some folks recommend using a virtual display or dummy HDMI plugs. The catch is I only have one HDMI 2.1 port connected to my monitor, and my GPU has three DisplayPort outputs. Unfortunately, none of the dummy DisplayPort plugs support 1440p at 120hz, which is what I’m aiming for to align with my monitor specs. I’m hesitant to keep swapping settings between my Gear and my Deck. Any tips or tricks from you experienced streamers? I heard about Apollo and Artemis, which might automate virtual display functions, but do they mess with things when I switch back to my PC? Thanks a ton!

Honestly, I’d just switch over to Apollo instead of Sunshine. Apollo’s a great fork that gives you a virtual Steam Deck monitor to stream from, making things way simpler. You can find it on GitHub and it should help with your issue!
Got it! So if I install Apollo, I just set my resolution once and it’ll handle the rest? Do I need to change anything when I switch back to my PC?
