I’m jumping back into Baldur’s Gate 3 after Patch 8 and really want to experience the evil Tav ending this time around. I’ve already played a full Bhaal path once, and I want to romance an evil Shar character as well. The tricky part is creating a character who’s both compelling to roleplay and has a believable reason to be a total jerk. I enjoy really getting into the mindset of my character to keep things fresh when replaying games. Does anyone have ideas or inspiration on how to develop an interesting evil Tav?

Also, for the mod crowd — the Plasma Weapons – Darkh Set mod actually works with Patch 8 now, so if you’re planning a run with that sci-fi Sith vibe, you’re good to go. Just a heads up, can’t guarantee it won’t conflict with other mods, but it’s solid on its own.
If you’re up for something really hardcore, try going full melee with a Swarmkeeper Ranger/Death Domain Cleric build. It fits the vibe of being an agent of death, someone who literally reaps lives and spreads death wherever they go. Makes for a brutal but interesting evil character who’s got some solid lore reasons for turning dark—not just a jerk for the sake of it, but someone who believes in death as a force and wants to harness it.
I didn’t plan on being evil in my recent run, but after making a Drow sorcerer, things changed fast. When my Tav finally reached the Grove, she got hit with outright racism like, ‘Who let a Drow in here?’ But then in the goblin camp, she commanded respect and met Minthara, who pushed her to rethink the world. The world rejected her, so she decided to reject it back with a vengeance. The key is letting your character’s background and how others treat them motivate their dark choices—it really makes the evil path feel earned and personal.
I’ve been running an evil ‘Sith Lord Asajj Ventress’ type character. Imagine she gets abducted by mind flayers and crashes on Faerûn, trying to both get rid of the tadpole parasite and conquer this realm in the name of her Sith order. Every interaction revolves around finding ways to gain more power or eliminate obstacles. If someone isn’t useful, they get the lightsaber—that’s the mindset. Roleplaying like this, with a clear ruthless goal, helps keep the character consistent and interesting.
One cool approach is to play a half-drow Tav who’s caught between two worlds—too drow for the surface folks, but not fitting in the Underdark either. This outcast vibe makes it easy to justify a bitter, angry personality that lashes out and burns bridges. Playing a wizard fits well here since the character might be drawn to solitary pursuits, letting that resentment build. Plus, getting slighted with casual racism in Act 1 can really help you slip into that angry mindset naturally.
Thanks for confirming on the mod compatibility! Definitely makes restarting my run easier knowing the weapons mod won’t break.
