I’ve been stuck in a gameplay rut with The Sims 2, 3, and 4. My usual routine is to create my simself, move her into one of the starter homes in Pleasantview, Sunset Valley, or Willow Creek, and have her pursue a writing career while writing books from home. Eventually, I get bored and abandon the save file, only to repeat the cycle. I’m looking for fresh ideas to shake things up a bit. What strategies or play styles have worked for you to keep the game exciting?

I recommend trying to play a sim that isn’t based on you. It’s super fun to experiment with different occults like vampires or spellcasters. Or, you could create a random family and mix up their traits—it could lead to some hilarious situations!
Consider taking on new careers and setting personal challenges like completing collections. It adds some structure to your gameplay and might renew your interest!
You might want to check out some of the scenarios available in the game. The ‘Rags to Riches’ challenge is a total blast! Plus, there’s the asylum challenge if you’re looking for something really nuts. Changing up your gameplay style with these challenges can seriously reignite your interest.
Thanks for the suggestion! I haven’t really explored the collection aspect much.
