Hey everyone! I recently tried out The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remastered on my desktop running Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, and I’m facing some performance issues. Despite having the latest drivers, I’m only getting around 32 FPS at max settings in 1080p, with a peak of 38-39 FPS. The game even crashes sometimes! Here’s my setup: Ryzen 7 3700x, 24GB DDR4 at 2400MHz, and an RTX 4090. I’ve checked ProtonDB but haven’t found any specific configurations for Oblivion. Has anyone played this game on a similar setup? Any tips to enhance performance?

It looks like your RAM’s speed might be bottlenecking your performance. Make sure you have the XMP profile enabled in your BIOS to boost your memory speed. You should aim for 3200MHz if you can! That might help with the FPS drops you’re seeing.
Running on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS might be part of the problem too. I switched to Bazzite and I’m hitting around 100 FPS in the open world with a 7800xt and a Ryzen 7 7700. Maybe consider testing a different Linux distro if the performance doesn’t improve.
Oh, for sure! I’ve got mine set to 3200MHz and it made a noticeable difference in my gameplay.
