Managing inventory in Resident Evil 1 is all about balancing what you need now vs what you might need later. Here are some tips:
Know Your Limits: Characters have different inventory space (e.g., Jill has 8 slots, Chris has 6). Prioritize essential items because you can’t carry everything.
Basic Loadout: Carry a weapon, some ammo, and a healing item. Different areas have different threats, so adapt your loadout based on what you’re about to face (zombies, bosses, etc.).
Plan for Keys and Puzzle Items: Always keep the items needed for progression. If you know you’re heading towards a puzzle, try to have all the required items with you so you don’t have to backtrack.
Storage Boxes Are Key: Use these to your advantage. Stash items you might need later, like extra ammo and healing herbs. Remember items in storage boxes are accessible from any other storage box.
Efficient Use of Ammo: Bullets are scarce, so aim carefully and try to dodge enemies when possible. Save powerful ammo (like for the Magnum) for bosses or tough enemies.
Healing Items in Moderation: Keep one healing item on hand but don’t go overboard. Herbs and sprays can also be stored until you really need them.
Dump Unnecessary Stuff: Got a key that’s used already? Toss it. If an item isn’t going to be useful soon, ditch it in storage until you know you’ll need it.
Be Aware of Area Layouts: Familiarize yourself with safe routes to easily access storage boxes or to bypass enemies.
Don’t Hoard Weapons: Carrying multiple weapons can eat up space, so stick with one primary weapon and optional stronger weapon for more intense encounters.
Efficient inventory management can make a huge difference in your survival. Good luck!
know what weapons use what ammo, always keep stronger ones handy. carry at least 1 healing item and plan puzzle paths. when you find new key items, probably gonna need em soon. save your game before big decisions, helps if you mess up.
I like to travel light and pick up stuff as I go. Be sure to drop off items you wont need in a safe room before heading out to explore. Familiarize yourself with the map to minimize backtracking since it wastes time and resources. Stick to the weapon that uses the most abundant ammo type youve got on hand. Its also smart to manage your saves to prevent running back for items unnecessarily, safe box usage is everything.
