I’m roleplaying a lore-accurate Green Pact Bosmer who’s a bit of a wild character. I’m trying to figure out how strictly the ‘no plants’ rule applies, especially regarding drinks like teas, potions, and mushrooms. Does the Green Pact forbid these entirely, or are there exceptions? Also, how do Bosmer handle ingredients like honey, dairy, or anything that naturally falls from plants? Any lore insights or interpretations would be appreciated!

It really varies depending on the individual Bosmer. Some are super strict about not touching any plants directly, while others are okay with things like fruits and nuts that fall naturally from trees or plants outside Valenwood. Basically, some Bosmer will avoid plants completely, but others might be a bit more flexible depending on how they interpret the Green Pact.
For drinks, a classic Bosmer choice is rotmeth, which is essentially fermented meat juices mixed with alcohol—not for the faint-hearted. Regarding mushrooms, honey, or dairy, it’s kind of a mixed bag. Some Bosmer consider these okay since they don’t directly harm plants and aren’t ‘charming’ anything. Technically, the Green Pact only binds Bosmer within Valenwood, so outside of it, they have more freedom. But culturally, many still stick to the Pact’s rules pretty closely. Also, note that historically Bosmer practiced cannibalism on enemies, but that became less common by the Second Era.
If you wanna go all-in on being a hardcore Green Pact follower, here’s some tips: no plant fibers allowed for armor, so stick with leather or metal for medium/heavy armor. Light armor usually uses plant material, so that’s out. No wooden staffs or bows either; some Bosmer use bone bows instead, and metal staffs are okay. Also, no plant-based ingredients in potions if you want to keep it lore-accurate. May the Green guide your steps!
Totally agree, and the Huntsman bow made from bone is definitely the way to go!
Thanks for clearing that up! Makes sense that there’s some variation. Glory to the Aldmeri Dominion!
