I’m trying to make my ghoul a melee character and considering a Furious and Pounders 2H weapon build. I’m a pretty casual player, usually gaming a few hours a night and often distracted. I can craft the Furious mod already and things are going okay, but I’m debating whether farming Troubleshooters power armor to get Pounders mods by farming the robot boss is worth the effort. How doable is this for someone who’s not hardcore grinding?

A lot depends on your character level and gear setup. If your build isn’t fully optimized yet, vendor hopping might actually be faster and less frustrating than farming the robot boss on EN06. Just curious, what’s your current gear situation?
Honestly, the only real necessity for Pounders mods is when farming the robot boss. If you’re running an auto axe melee setup, it already demolishes most non-raid enemies. The 4-star mods mainly matter in raids. If you just want faster kills on tougher enemies, cool — but otherwise you could skip farming Pounders for a while without much loss.
From my experience, Pounders is super rare. I spent about a week just vendor hopping with solid dedication before finally finding one, and I had to drop around 35k caps for it. If you’re running an auto axe melee build, you honestly don’t really *need* Pounders to wreck stuff. It’s a nice-to-have but not essential. Also, fair warning, I ran EN06 around 400 times before I ever got one to drop!
Haha, love the name Turd Ferguson! I had to do about four days of solid vendor hopping myself before I finally snagged one.
It’s really random luck. For me, it took about 150 runs on my main character and 80 on an alt to get Pounders mods. It could drop on your very first try or take forever. If you want to save time, vendor hopping might be a better route. Also, trading with other players could be an option if you want to check what it’s worth first.
I personally found vendor hopping easier than grinding EN06 endlessly. I came across one for a pretty reasonable price and grabbed it on the spot just to have it. I had no idea I’d later need it for my unarmed feral ghoul build, so it turned out to be a lucky find!
I’m not fully sorted yet either! I switched from a vats gunslinger over to melee because I kept getting swarmed. Right now I have full Thorns armor but only a couple of pieces with good 4-star mods on them.
