I’ve heard there are only about 9 mounts in the game that you can actually earn by playing. If that’s true, that’s wild! Other games, like WoW, have tons of mounts available, so why are there so few in this game that’s been around for years? I want to clarify that I’m only talking about mounts you can earn in-game, not ones from loot boxes or special events that only happen once a year.

There are definitely more than 9 earnable mounts! However, a lot of them come from events or are tied to the store in some way. If you count everything, including seasonals and achievements, it can be a bit confusing. But if you’re looking for mounts solely from gameplay, the selection is quite limited compared to the store options.
It’s true that compared to other games, the ratio of earnable to purchasable mounts is pretty low. However, there are various methods to earn mounts, like achievements from trials and specific in-game quests, but many players find it frustrating that most of the appealing mounts are behind paywalls or timed events.
Technically, most mounts can be obtained through Seals of Endeavor, which you earn from daily tasks. I’ve managed to collect a lot this way, but it takes a lot of time and effort. The game does have a fair mix of mounts, just requires some grinding to get what you want.
There are certainly lots of mounts available, but many depend on events or grinding achievements. I’ve counted at least 23 that I’ve earned through in-game play, so if you put the time in, it is possible to collect a good number, but it’s definitely not as simple as saying there are just 9.
