I’m curious about the Steam Deck’s capabilities. I mainly play indie games, but I’m looking for a handheld that can also handle larger AAA titles, like games from FROM SOFTWARE or Expedition 33. How much longer do you think the Steam Deck will be able to run these games effectively? I’d appreciate it if you could mention specific versions or settings needed. Thanks in advance!

A lot of folks are still enjoying their Steam Deck, but they have had to reduce the graphics settings to play major titles effectively. If you’re primarily focused on playing through your Steam backlog, you could get a lot of use out of it. Just keep in mind that if you want to play the latest big-name games in a few years, it may not hold up as well.
Honestly, if you’re thinking about the Steam Deck for AAA gaming, it might not be the best fit. If you’re looking to play less demanding games or just tackle your backlog, it could work out. Just don’t expect it to handle future AAA titles smoothly without some sacrifices.
That’s fair, but a lot of us just want a convenient way to play without breaking the bank or the device.
To be honest, the Steam Deck’s ability to handle the latest AAA games isn’t what it used to be. If you’re expecting to run the most demanding games at high settings, you might be disappointed. However, if you’re okay with lowering the graphic settings, there’s still a decent library of games it can handle. Like, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how well Kingdom Come II performs on it!
Yeah, I’m not a graphics snob either. I just want a smooth gaming experience without lag, so if the performance can keep up, I’m good!
I get that! I just don’t want to open up a game like Baldur’s Gate and have the device fall apart on me!
