Hey everyone! I’m getting ready for an upcoming comicon and I want to make some trident props. I’m trying to figure out how long tridents actually are in feet. Based on some comparisons with player and shark models in the game (the art book mentions players are roughly 6ft tall and sharks about 10ft long), I estimate tridents to be around 7ft. However, player models can vary in size and posture, and lining up with sharks is tricky. Any insights would be super helpful!

If you really want precision, try measuring a square on the map using the ‘miles sailed’ commendations. You could theoretically line up tridents in a square that matches one on the map, then divide out the length. Tribute Peak might be a spot to try this, though it sounds pretty complicated!
Have you thought about using fruit as a measurement tool? You can use the grapple gun to move them around on shore, and you likely know how big a pomegranate or pineapple is in real life. If you set a trident down next to one of those, you’d get a good estimate of its size!
You might want to check out the dimensions of in-game barrels for reference! For instance, the barrel’s diameter and height can give you a pretty good idea of scale. Just narrow it down by the era of the game for more accuracy!
Wait, are those actually the legit dimensions of the in-game barrels? That could really help!?
Also, what do you mean by era? Is that just a typo or something specific?
True, but as you said, that sounds super impractical, especially if the island images aren’t lined up right. I wonder if there’s info on the smaller grids in treasure maps, they could be helpful!
