Hey everyone! I’ve been playing League of Legends for a while, but I’m starting to feel a bit bored with it. I’m thinking about giving Dota 2 a shot and I’m curious about the learning curve. Will my experience in League help me out in Dota, or is it a completely different beast? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Your time in League will give you a tiny edge since you’ll know how to control a hero and click buttons, but honestly, that’s about it. Dota 2 has a massive learning curve because you have to learn all the heroes, their abilities, and the different items. Expect to invest a lot of time getting the hang of things!
I just made the switch the other way, from Dota to League! The core gameplay is similar, so you’re starting with a solid foundation. Just remember that Dota has some quirks like turn rates that might frustrate you at first. Don’t forget to check out some guides online; they can really help you get a head start!
Thanks for the guidance! I’m excited to dive in, but I hear Dota can be quite challenging.
Definitely take your time to learn the roles in Dota. I recommend playing a few bot games to get a feel for spell mechanics, last hitting, and lane dynamics. Dota can be overwhelming at first, but just break it down step by step. Make sure to mute the toxic players; they’re everywhere! Good luck!
Thanks for the thorough explanation! I’ve heard about denying creeps, and I’d love to understand that better.
Yeah, after years in League, it’s time for a change and Dota seems super interesting. Thanks for the insight!
