Hey Wastelanders! I’ve been diving into the food buffs and I keep seeing references to melee damage, but I don’t quite get how Susan’s Soothin fits in. Does it actually provide a plain damage buff or is it just for melee? I’ve noticed it doesn’t replace melee buffs, but can it still boost melee damage? Would love to hear your insights! Thanks!

I haven’t seen much about how Susan’s Soothin affects things in practice. I thought the 25% bonus would obliterate super mutants at Eviction Notice, but it felt like I was just using my usual setup. Anyone else seen that?
Honestly, the buff isn’t that impressive for melee users since it only offers a 10% additive damage boost. It’s not much compared to the bigger buffs out there. You might see some results, but don’t expect a game-changer if you’re already using melee boosts and sticking with carnivore.
I get that frustration! Even if it looks good on paper, you might not always see the difference in gameplay. Sometimes it just comes down to how all the buffs stack.
This buff is pretty powerful overall. To put it in perspective: an average build often uses Bloody Mess for a 15% damage boost, but if you’re herbivore with Susan’s Soothin, you’re looking at 25% damage and even more experience! I still use it even as a carnivore for that extra 10%. I just wish the plan would drop for me already!
Haha, tell me about it! I finally got lucky with crafting after countless attempts. RNG can be brutal, but it’s so rewarding when things finally go right!
I think it gives an overall damage boost, working for both herbivores and carnivores. But herbivores get a better boost from it. Just like Company Tea, it’s more effective for herbivores — carnivores only get the base benefits.
Totally agree! Having that herbivore advantage is key. It really changes the dynamics of these buffs.
True, but if you’re running an herbivore build, it becomes way more interesting. It can actually be the best straight damage buff in the game! So, while you don’t need it, it definitely adds some value if you use it right.
