I’m considering installing Windows on my Steam Deck instead of using SteamOS, and I’m curious about how the sleep function works. Does the sleep button work properly, and is there a quick sleep option like in SteamOS?

When you switch to Windows, you’ll get the typical Windows sleep functionality. However, be aware that it might wake up randomly for updates, which can drain your battery faster than you’d like. So, it’s a bit more fickle compared to the dedicated sleep mode in SteamOS.
Essentially, Windows handles sleep just like any other PC. You can configure it to sleep or hibernate, but it’s not as seamless as the instant sleep on SteamOS.
If you want to use Windows instead of SteamOS, keep in mind you’ll lose out on the efficient sleep feature. Windows won’t support the deep standby that SteamOS does, which means it will use more power while hibernating.
Just a heads up – with Windows, you’re stuck with the standard sleep mode and won’t have the quick resume feature that SteamOS offers. So, no fancy cloud saves or keeping your game states while in sleep mode.
