I’m curious about the sleep function if I install Windows on my Steam Deck instead of using the pre-installed SteamOS. Will the sleep and quick sleep features work normally on Windows?

Unfortunately, the instant sleep feature you’re looking for is specific to SteamOS. With Windows, you’re stuck with the standard sleep options, which aren’t as seamless. No more quick saving of games or cloud uploads when you hit sleep, either.
Setting up Windows on your Steam Deck is pretty straightforward. You can opt for either sleep or hibernate just like on a regular PC. Just remember, it won’t have the quick resume capabilities you might be used to in SteamOS.
From what I know, using Windows means you’ll get the standard sleep options. Just a heads up – you might face issues like your device waking up randomly for updates, which can drain the battery quite a bit. It’s similar to any other Windows laptop out there.
Switching to Windows means you’ll lose that super-efficient sleep mode from SteamOS. Windows has a different hibernation feature that uses more power, so keep that in mind if battery life is important to you.
A tip to avoid those surprise wake-ups for updates: make sure to unplug it before shutting down.
