I’ve been a RuneScape fan on and off for years and recently heard about Dragonwilds. I’m curious if anyone has tried playing RuneScape: Dragonwilds on the Steam Deck yet? How’s the performance, graphics, and controls? Any issues with menus or frame rates? Would love to know how well it runs and if it feels playable on the device.

I’ve played RuneScape: Dragonwilds on the Steam Deck and it’s definitely playable. The game even has its own graphics settings tailored for the Deck. If you’re not super picky about having a locked 60fps, it works pretty well overall. Controls mostly work out of the box, though menus can be a bit janky and construction snapping feels a little off, but that might just be me getting used to it.
Controls can feel a bit awkward and the frame rate takes some hits, but overall Dragonwilds runs well enough on the Steam Deck for casual play. The menus definitely aren’t perfect — they can feel clunky and the UI isn’t super polished for the Deck — but if you’re a longtime RuneScape fan, it’s close to the experience you’ve probably been waiting for on a portable device.
I found the game to be pretty unstable on the Deck, with frame rates often dropping down to around 20-30 fps after the tutorial zone, which made it tough to play comfortably. Menus required switching control schemes to navigate properly, and the graphics felt blurry and upscaled no matter the settings. So for me, it wasn’t the best experience.
Ah, that’s disappointing but good to know. Guess performance might differ between devices or updates.
Just got around to trying it out, and after about an hour, no major graphics issues popped up for me. Some menu snapping and construction controls felt funky at times, but it might just be me learning the controls. Overall, it’s a neat portable RuneScape experience and feels like a solid step forward for playing this kind of game on the Steam Deck.
Thanks for the input! Good to hear it’s mostly smooth and controls aren’t a hassle right out of the gate.
