I’m curious about the differences in power and prestige between a modern warrant of trade signed by Roboute Guilliman and one signed by the High Lords of Terra from his time in stasis or earlier. Would a contemporary warrant carry more weight, or is it all about the history behind the signature? Also, how would a rogue trader with Guilliman’s warrant view someone holding a High Lords’ signature?

Ultimately, all rogue traders have their authority granted by the Emperor, so the specific terms of each warrant are what matters most. Even if Guilliman’s signature carries weight, it might not be as flexible as older, more established warrants. Over time, the Imperium has made the rules surrounding these warrants more restrictive.
In theory, a signature’s importance matters little unless it’s from the Emperor himself; that’s the gold standard! Old money rogue traders tend to look down on new blood, regardless of how fancy their signatures are, viewing those who just got their warrant as lower status.
A warrant from Guilliman would definitely be seen as more prestigious since it’s more recent, but keep in mind that some rogue trader houses have been around for ages and have their own sense of importance built on history. So while a modern warrant is great, a long-established house might still look down on newer traders, no matter who signed their papers.
