Hey everyone! I just returned to playing after a long break, thanks to Oblivion. According to my PlayStation, I’m about 55% through the Necrom chapter, but I’m struggling to remember the lore of this zone and the game’s backstory as a whole. I completed Cadwell’s Gold a while back, but none of the lore seems to stick with me. I really love the Elder Scrolls universe, but the massive amount of fragmented information can be overwhelming. I’ve tried listening to lorecasts and watching YouTube videos, but it hasn’t helped much. What tips do you have for retaining lore better?

I swear by the addon called The Questing Guide. It gives you a recap of everything you’ve done and has a chronological list, which helps keep all the lore in check!
Honestly, one of the best ways I remember is by replaying the game on a different character. Going through quests again helps reinforce the lore for me. It might be something to consider if you’re struggling to retain all the details.
Hey! Check out this video for a main story and lore recap: [Main Story & Lore](https://youtu.be/eSEGyTbbKBo?si=B-WNYeEaHhNPi358). Also, here’s a good intro to the Elder Scrolls Online lore: [Introduction to the Lore](https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Introduction_to_the_Lore_of_The_Elder_Scrolls_Online). Hope that helps!
I can’t give you the perfect solution for remembering lore, but I do find Necrom’s story kind of tricky. It’s less linear and feels more complex than things like High Isle. If you’ve completed the Mages Guild story, make sure to use the Eidetic Memory feature to reread notes and books to refresh your memory! Having a recap in the journal would be super helpful for those of us who take breaks.
There’s a ton of stories in ESO, like the main plot against Molag Bal, the individual zone stories, and unique chapter narratives. To get a good grasp on the lore, try focusing on quests related to those stories, rather than jumping around zones or starting too many chapter quests at once. You can check out this great overview of the storylines [here](https://en.m.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Story_Quests). It might help you follow the plots better!
