I have been roaming around the Zora domain, looking for some way up the mountain to where Sidon is. I found the big lake area that had stairs to get up but it doesnt have any connection up to the rest of the mountain. The path to the left of the lake only goes down not up. How am I supposed to get up to him?

You will be best off completing the quest “Restoring the Zoras Armor”. This can be found in the infirmary of Zoras domain. When completed, it will give you the Zora armor which you can use to swim up waterfalls. It will allow you get up to the top of the mountain in a few seconds.
If you want to walk it, there is a path to the left of the waterfall but its a long walk. You can also get up from the lake you are at if you follow that path down. If eventually allows you turn left and climb the mountain from the rear.
