The owl keeps saying that I need to go to the swamp. I have gotten through it but there are a bunch of plants that are blocking the entrance to the tunnel. Hitting them with the sword doesn’t do anything. They wrap up but then come back out again. I cant jump on them when they are wrapped up like this either. I can’t see any other pllace that I need to go to first. What do you need to do to destroy these plants and progress?

You will need to progress further in the story. If you look a little below the swamp there will be an area with a cave in the side of the mountain. Just above where you find a heart piece that is surrounded by holes. Go into this and defeat the challenges. At the end you will unlock a chain chomp pet. Bring him back to the swamp and he will eat the flowers.
